FAQ

What should I wear?

There are a million answers to this question. Ideally, something you feel comfortable and confident in. It will show through in your posture, your face, your ease in posing. From there, finding coordinating colors is great. I highly recommend choosing 2-3 colors that go well together so not everyone is in the same color/hue of a shirt. Various shades of blue will work far better than everyone in the same shade, especially for intimate family photos where you can lose where one person stops and another begins.

I have a neurodivergent family member...

Something I have grown to pride myself on is my ability to work with kids who may shy away from the camera, for whatever the reason, to include neurodivergence. I understand that some kids may not be terribly willing to be outside of their comfort zone or routine. Let's work together to find the best scenario to give you images you'll cherish for a long time. This could look like not using flash, coming in with their favorite toy or a speaker with their favorite song on repeat. It could look calm and still somewhere with minimal distractions, pictures of you all enjoying one another rather than looking straight at the camera, or even letting them get behind the camera with me to appease their curiosity and get some pictures of Mom and Dad! If you have concerns, I would love to talk with you more about what your needs might look like, and if we can work together to make this an enjoyable and peaceful experience for everyone.

Can we recreate a specific photo or pose?

Heck yes! I would love to hear your ideas and your end goals. I will always do my best to give you an image from every pose we take in your edited gallery. However, there have been times when I get home and see the image up close and I find that it REALLY just didn't work and is not indicative of the work I produce. I do everything in my power to include images you request, especially when it's recreating something of sentiment, like wedding poses or childhood recreations. More often than not, provided the image isn't just a total disaster, I will give you a, "candid" folder in your gallery. It's the images that weren't "technically," correct, but the connection it shows, or the moment that was captured, was something too precious to not include. But, if it's a pose that you absolutely need and have intentions for (maybe it's every kid doing the same pose on your wall) let me know. I'll make sure we try and nail it before our session is over.

Can I choose the images in my package?

You sure can! You will be delivered a gallery with every edited image from our session. You can go through and view them, talk it over with your family, and decide which images you'd like.

What if I want more images than included with my package?

If you fall in love with more images than are included, you can purchase additional images.

Can long distance family see my gallery?

Absolutely! We encourage it! We can set up your gallery so that only you can choose the images you opt to satisfy your package amount, but long distance friends and family can still view all the images, tell you what ones they'd love to hang on the wall, or even opt to purchase versions for themselves.

What happens if the weather is unfavorable on the day of an outdoor shoot?

If the weather doesn't cooperate on the day of an outdoor shoot, we can discuss alternatives such as rescheduling the session or finding an indoor location. I want to ensure the best possible outcome for your photos, and I'm flexible in adapting to unforeseen circumstances.

I often find I don't like the way I look in photos...

Don't we all? As much as I would love to fill this spot with something beautiful like, "you only live this life once, capture it as you are, everyone and every BODY is beautiful," which is all true by the way, it doesn't stop us from feeling insecure sometimes. Photos are SO MUCH MORE than how to work the camera. It's also how to pose your clients. Rest assured you will get feedback from me. Positioning your arms, turning your body, raising your chin, all the things.

But, I know that sometimes we have areas of insecurity that other people might go, "are you kidding, I WISH I had your..." Please, if you have found that every photo of you that has been captured shows a scar you'd rather not see, shows your stomach which you'd rather not have photographed, makes you feel like your arms are so much wider than they appear in the mirror, talk to me! I would love to know what has kept you from loving your family photos in the past and kept you from hanging them on your walls. And then, I want to find a legitimate way to overcome that in how we work together to create your images.
